• Frostbite is tissue damage caused by cold. Just as burns are rated according to severity, frostbite also has first, second, and third degree forms. Frostnip is the mildest level of frostbite.

  • When exercising outside in cold weather, dress in layers.  The first layer should be a wicking layer, then an insulating layer followed by a wind and water proof layer.  You can lose up to 30% of your heat through your head, hands and feet so keep them covered with a non cotton material that will prevent moisture from accumulating keeping them dry and warm.

  • Did you know you can get sun burn in the winter? You actually receive 2x the exposure to UV rays because they reflect off the snow. So make sure you apply sunscreen before heading out for a day of fun in the snow.
